“Before the Stars arc began I drew this, but it wasn’t accepted. I call it “Fukano Moon”.”

THIS. IS SO. FREAKING. GORGEOUS.
I like this. It seems like the more natural evolution of her uniform after her super form and princess form compared to the rather random Stars uniform.
Well, when you consider the fact Naoko drew the stars uniform in a hurry because TOEI wanted to begin the new season soon, it’s not really surprising we ended up with that ugly thing.
Sailor Moon main colour it’s NOT red
A lot of people think it is (They even think is a shade of red almost as deep as Mars’) but this is just not true. Sailor Moon actual main colour is magenta, a colour that is highly suceptible to any type of change, which can often make it look like red, This happened almost all the time in the pre-digital era of animation when in anime a lot of rich colours were inevitably lost due to the old technology
I think her red was changed to this magenta with the first reprint seen there in the in the middle. That and with the live action tv show. Before, it was definitely a shade of red. Check out the old art from the first 3 artbooks on mangastyle.net. (example http://mangastyle.net/book3/3-25.jpg ) This red does change to magenta with the Eternal form. The anime was also very much red with every season but the last. (http://images6.fanpop.com/image/photos/33900000/Sailor-Moon-sailor-moon-33978582-562-841.jpg )
I assume it was originally red because red, white, and blue are very much typical “sailor” uniform colors. The bright reds also attracted the young eyes of the target demographic. I am glad they changed it to the magenta in more recent years, though. It is more pleasing to the eye and pink is Moon’s signature color.
1990 + Old scanners + Old print + Analog technology = Not true colors
